Karen Geduldig was appointed Executive Deputy Chief Information for the NYS Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) in June 2017. As Executive Deputy CIO Karen oversees the State's technology-enabled innovation agenda and manages the agency's 50+ executive level client-agency relationships. She ensures that ITS empowers its agency clients by delivering cutting edge technologies that agencies can use to improve the business of government and the lives and livelihoods NYS citizens and businesses. Between 2011 and 2015, Karen served as ITS's first General Counsel and Ethics Officer. She was part of the leadership team that created ITS through a ground-breaking restructuring of the State's technology systems, investments and IT personnel. During her tenure as General Counsel Karen was a key decision-maker in implementing cutting edge strategies, policies, standards, and practices for all aspects of this transformation, including decisions around the deployment of new and emerging technology, privacy, security, technology operations, complex technology contracting and procurement. Between 2015 and 2017, Karen served as the Director of the Office of Telecommunications within the New York State Department of Public Service where she oversaw regulation of the telecommunications industry in New York State. As Director, Karen focused on the convergence of the telecommunications and energy industries and incentivizing investment and innovation in areas such as next generation wireless technology and extending high speed broadband throughout the State.
